SensoriaPro is an informal and informative industry day that aims to provide access, raise aspiration and work to encourage new talent on an ongoing basis.
On Friday 6th October they will be hosting a unique gathering of composers, filmmakers, music publishers, music supervisors, games developers and festivals all under one roof to discuss the latest innovations in music and the moving image. One such panel is the much anticipated Scoring Contest, of which the judges are Ian Neil (Director of Music for Film and TV, Sony Music), Rachel Menzies (Native Music Supervision) & our very own Sync & Licensing manager Laurence Malpass (Music Gateway).
Registered delegates will have the opportunity to score or place their music to an advertising clip with the chance of having their submission critiqued by a panel of music supervisors and industry experts.
This year they have a clip from an edgy Honda R Type ad campaign and are looking for something disruptive that broods and simmers, something that makes you feel as if you are on the edge with energy growing throughout the spot. Having listened to “Firestarter” by Prodigy and various tracks by Nero against the edit, Sensoria feel that a dubstep tune with a glitchy sound would sit nicely with the clip.
It should have scale and feel cinematic but in a modern way and overall it should work with the abstract and dark nature of the visuals leading the viewer to feel both tense and exciting. The intro should start like a typical commercial, so happy and simple as if it were the soundtrack to a cheesy ad about a happy family which would suddenly stop when the voiceover goes all glitchy.
