No stranger to the music business, Dave Stewart is recognized as one of the most respected and accomplished talents in the music industry today with a music career spanning four decades and over 100 million album sales. Best known for Eurythmics, his successful professional partnership with Annie Lennox, he has also won Best British Producer at the 1986, 1987 and 1990 Brit Awards. Now he has also become a well trusted entrepreneur investing and supporting young and innovative music companies.
“I meet so many people that are showing me new technologies and ways in which to help the music industry that are meant to help us adapt to the many changes the industry has gone through. A lot of the time they’re all over the place and haven’t quite found their flow. I’m always interested in something that’s starting from the ground up, that’s simple, focus’ on one thing and then builds something that can cope with scalability.”
Not one to endorse a product without testing it out for himself, Dave signed up to the platform under the alias ‘Squinky’ and created a project asking people to create old time circus music, which he didn’t think people would have to hand in their arsenal. He then had multiple replies from composers, songwriters, artists and more from all over the world who had used all sorts of crazy instruments and tools and was impressed.
“I particularly like how dedicated & talented the members can be. It’s a great way to find new people to assist with your creative project.”
It was not long after this in 2016 that Dave joined the Advisory Board to mark his stamp of approval and support the growth of Music Gateway.
“I’ve been really impressed with the way it’s been built on the foundation of collaboration, which for me is an absolute core of the industry and then slowly been building into an empire that can allow people to get involved in major placements, major signings and just become more professional in their career or company with the tools on offer”
To sum up the extent of Dave Stewart’s feelings toward the platform he goes on to say:
“There’s a whole little world happening over here, often those little worlds then get bigger and bigger and bigger and it becomes part of the current everyday music industry and that’s what is happening at Music Gateway”
