Initially opening with garage and blues inspired melodies and pads. This thematic section grows slowly and dramatically, setting a heavy tone at the offset of the piece. Containing cinematic and orchestral blends of contemporary production, Bring Me stands out against many modern radio-soul tracks.
Ongoing filtered echoes keep the track sat comfortably within contemporary production techniques, while embracing stylistic influence from trends of the last few decades.
Suddenly lifting into a much more intense and percussion-heavy section. VE3LLE’s vocals power through the mix, sitting above the orchestrally large strikes and hits. An engaging string section gives a soulful, and cinematic air to the composition. Intense and driving but not at all detracting from the vocal delivery.
Though consistently taking the lead position, the vocal performance and lyrical content serve as an important piece of the instrumentation without forcing the excellent combination of musical elements into a backdrop.
The ever-changing and tactful drum sections give the work dimensions and depth atypical of peer-led compositions. The strings add an intensity that draws on nostalgic compositional techniques but remain simple and effectively fit into the mix. The use of vocal sampling and editing is in line with most current pop trends and holds the place of Bring Me in a radio-friendly light.
The highlights of this track are all found in its humble blend of grandiose sound. VE3LLE does an impeccable job of balancing sounds and combining them into one memorable package. No idea is overused or over complicated, and always feels entirely appropriate in its service to the work.
The San Diego native describes herself as ‘…a singer songwriter just trying to be better than the day before…’. Bring Me is her debut single and the start of a career of developing her own original compositions.
