An expression of how 5amuel felt in the initial hour or so after ending a toxic relationship. A relationship that had gone on far too long, a relationship that made him feel terrible.

‘Free’: An Anchor Or Engine?

Initially, sad to see her leave, 5amuel reminisced on the time that they had spent together, always being around one another, but ultimately he knew that it had to end.

Finding solace in writing down his feelings and creating music. With a few pre-recorded riffs and samples ready to go, 5amuel began experimenting, eventually ending on the guitar riff that you hear throughout the track. From there, the lyrics flowed naturally from pen to paper.

Telling people not to be afraid about cutting negative people out of their life. You might feel bad initially; you’ll be happier in the long run.

An excellent analogy for negativity in your life and life, in general, is it an ‘anchor’ or an ‘engine’. Does it weigh you down, or does it drive you forward?

Who is 5amuel?

5amuel – aka Sam Day – is a talented musician/artist who brings energy and positivity to all those who hear his music. Somewhere in between Ed Sheeran & Post Malone, 5amuel has described his music as grounded but with a carefree heart, expressing himself in the most honest way possible.

Standing for positivity and having a good time, he fuses singer-songwriter type lyrics that so many can relate to, but with the energy of hip-hop/R&B music.
