A Pure, soulful electro-pop anthem, ‘You Saved Me‘ was conceived as a break-up track. It narrates the inner battle of remembering all the happy moments and positives of a relationship but knowing it wasn’t right for you. – Out Now!
Ella was going through a difficult time when the relationship started, and the person had really helped her through them, but ultimately the person wasn’t right for her so-called off the relationship. ‘You Saved Me ‘depicts the confusion that even if something is good or not; it’s not always meant to be.
‘You Saved Me’ was a winning competition entry, production company Yelmo Music put out an initiative where songwriters could pick one of their beats, write a song to it and they’d record the winning song. Ella felt the simplicity of the beat she chose allowed lots of room for creative vocals – next thing she knew, she was spending an afternoon as a competition winner in a studio, playing around with harmonies and adding ad-libs. Ella’s voice shines with a wise and knowing maturity, perfectly channelling the conflicted emotion of the track.
“I think most people can relate to needing to be ‘released from a love they can’t out-run’ and that I suppose is what this song is for me,” says Ella. “A reminder that not all seemingly-good relationships are meant to be.”
Ella McCready may be a ‘newcomer’ in the eyes of the music industry, but she’s been singing and creating music for as long as she can remember. Ella started gigging professionally alongside her dad when she was 14 – Ivan McCready is a cellist, and the father and daughter pair still perform together to this day.
Since her singing career started, Ella has also trained in London as an actor. She writes her music whilst filming for various independent film projects, recording voiceover jobs from her bedroom, and using her powerful voice to sing with her soul band at large-scale events all over the country.
