So at the beginning of April, our CEO Jon Skinner and Network Manager Laurence embarked on a month long trip to far-away lands. With over 80 meetings planned & the goal of building relationships with some major companies, music supervisors and industry organisations to allow us to bring you, our members, some incredible opportunities.
First stop, LA. For those of you who know Jon, & how driven he can be, there wasn’t much downtime between hundreds of coffee shop meets, high rise offices and thousands of miles travelled in UBER, calls and booking up more meetings both Jon and Laurence met with tonnes of key individuals across all areas of the industry. You might have seen a few projects appearing on the site from LA/Hollywood in the last month, including some from Warner, Interscope, Dreamworks, Concord, Vector Mgmt, and many, many supervisors.
“There are definite perks to this job sometimes, the travel is one of them, the amount of hours we work when travelling is not. But the stress and lack of sleep is well worth it when that great project comes through and we see success for one of our members” Laurence Malpass – Network Manager
On top of their busy schedule, they managed to attend both Musexpo and the ASCAP Expo, where they brushed shoulders with more international music heads.
Next, Jon travelled to New Orleans, while Laurence held the fort in LA. Jon spoke on a panel at Collision, alongside Rob Filomena, the head of publishing at CD Baby, and Ken Nelson, head of publishing at Firstcom (Universal Publishing).
“It’s vital that we keep building on our direct relationships within Hollywood and this recent trip has been fantastic, it’s so rewarding to see us deliver more and more opportunities straight from the heart of the Music Supervisor network, long may it continue” Jon Skinner, CEO
Lastly, Jon went to Toronto to attend Canadian Music Week. Canada seems to really support the local music scene, with over 10 different organisations for each region. More great projects came through, and lots of building exiting ideas for features & future development of the platform.
I’m afraid we can’t reveal too many juicy details just yet, but definitely stayed tuned for exciting news in the near future!
