Following his unexpected release of ‘The Big Sleep’, Gumshoe is gracing our ears once again with new track ‘Time I Spent I’ll Never Get Back’. – Out Now

With elements of passion and drama, the song is a beautiful composition, and a track you’ll find listening to again and again.

Behind ‘Time I Spent I’ll Never Get Back’

‘Time I Spent I’ll Never Get Back’ is a melancholic and honest piece. Gumshoe delivers an amazing post-punk/’80s inspired vocal performance. Using his vocals to spread over a mix of trailing synth tones, hard-hitting drums and an intermittent bass melody. With the piece peaking towards the end through the use of a piercing lead guitar that beautifully encapsulates the entire song.

Gumshoe has created a contemporary love letter to the ’80s, bringing with it a catchy retro sound along with modern undertones that have been perfectly implemented.

The track projects a message of missing someone who was once there. Reflecting on the time that was once spent together, how the artist wasted this time and how they cannot correct the wrongs they made.

About Gumshoe

Gumshoe – whose real name is Philip Hampson – is a British solo artist, songwriter and producer. Hailing from the North West of England, Gumshoe was brought to life by Hampson in 2019 with his electrifying release ‘When Things Started To Ignite’. Successfully combining noir and subtle ’80s new-wave influences to create a unique neo-noir sonic landscape, through a deeper-rooted chorus of post-punk and dark desert tones.

With a diverse taste for music in his teenage years, drawing influences from all of these in his music today. Hampson began songwriting and playing as early as 14 in several bands. He released his first song (pre-Gumshoe) at 17 which was described as an “inescapable sound that remains formidable and darkly appealing”. With welcomed comparisons to artists such as Joy Division and other dark, post-punk sounds.

Gumshoe’s future releases saw him work with renowned producers Gavin Monaghan, Bryan Wilson and Dan Carey. It was these invaluable experiences in the studio that led Hampson to begin building his own home studio to allow him to pursue a much more refined sound and musical career.
