Rising Afro music artist Hillz is breaking waves with his innovative Grime/Afrobeat track ‘No Games‘ – Out Now!
After realising that there are a lot of people out there that like to play games with the hearts of others, which all eventually leads to heartbreak. Hillz decided to counter this behaviour and create ‘No Games’, showing his listeners that there are people out there who will not do the same. Bringing a key message about always showing your intentions with people and playing ‘No Games’.
Using a perfect mixture of both Afrobeat and Grime influences, Hillz has created a beautiful blend of contemporary music. Utilising both electronic bass beats and synths, he has combined them with smooth lyrical vocals, to create an amazing listening experience.
Hailing from Nigeria, Hillz wrote his first song about his high school lover at the age of 15. However, he didn’t write this song to try and impress her, he instead wrote it because he couldn’t accurately express himself towards her. Using this as a stepping stone, he would continue to write about things that he couldn’t truly express in person. This would lead him to eventually fall in love with the art of writing and putting what was written down into melodies. From here Hillz realized that he was destined to make music.
With influences such as Dave, Burna Boy, J Hus, Stormzy, Wizkid, Davido and Bruno Mars behind his music, Hillz would continue to develop his music writing abilities by researching how some of his favourite artists would write their songs. Using this Hillz took the plunge and went to the studio across from his school, here he met with the producer and began to translate all of his written words and melodies into full-fledged songs.
