Back with the single ‘Donald Trump Jr’ from the highly anticipated upcoming mixtape ‘Keep Up With The Wave’ – Kidavelly delivers a strong message and speaks on the dark times that the world experienced whilst Donald Trump was in power.
With features from US artists Evander Griim (who has worked with Major Lazer, Lil Yachty, Gucci Mane, Offset, Quavo) and Migo Domingo (has worked with Migos) and production by the incredible Mikabeats – Donald Trump Jr is a solid release from Kidavelly that affirms his place within the Drill scene. Spreading the message of standing up and making a change – Kidavelly intends to bring listeners hope and encouragement to carry on fighting the battle for equality. Kidavelly recorded his part of the track in his hometown, London, whilst Evander Griim laid his bars down in El Paso, Texas and Migo Domingo recorded in Atlanta – making this a truly international project.
His inspiration for the track came about after working with Grammy Award-winning producer, Fraser T Smith. Kidavelly researched the meaning behind Kendrick Lamar’s lyrics (as suggested by Fraser) particularly looking into what touches on the social justice movements such as Black Lives Matter.
The work done by activists such as Dejuana Thompson and Linda Sarsour also played a part in influencing Kidavelly to record this track Tony Schwartz (author of Donald Trump’s New York Times best-selling book ‘Art of The Deal’) has teamed up with Kidavelly for the release, featuring in the music video, explaining that through his personal knowledge and relationship with Donald Trump, he feels the populist nationalism movement that Trump helped to create is still part of the culture and remains a danger to America and the world.
Kidavelly is an ever-evolving London bred rapper who is gearing up for a stellar 2021 with the release of his single ‘Donald Trump Jr.’ Injecting his own unique talent into each track – Kidavelly is an undeniable talent with incredible versatility, showing his diversity in his catalog that varies from Drill tracks to Afro-Swing. Over the years, Kidavelly has used his prior experiences of being in a negative environment whilst growing up to spur him on to focus on his musical talent and make his way to the top. Kidavelly starred in the Youtube Originals epic, insightful music documentary ‘Terms and Conditions: A UK Drill Story’, that explores the world of Drill music – and the film now has over 1.2m views on YouTube.
