Nick Pike is a London-based composer and orchestrator specialising in writing anything from Hollywood-style film scores to dirty funk grooves. He completed a Bachelors (Hons) in Music and a Master of Arts in Film and Television Composition at the University of Bristol in 2011 and has gone on to work on a variety of projects, covering a variety of styles.

 

Nick has written music for a variety of films and productions for organisations such as the United Nations, The Born Free Foundation, GAFI as well as many small independent production companies such as World of Arthur Cox, Emortal.com, and semi-professional function and big bands.
Nick is an assistant to the media composer Jeremy Holland-Smith, most recently on his full orchestral ballet for Docklands Sinfonia and on the Ian Rankin adaptation of Doors Open starring Stephen Fry for ITV. Nick has music signed to the Danish library music company Apollo Music Live and the India-based Samana Music, for which he also does educational transcriptions of Bollywood hit anthems.

Nick is also an accomplished piano and alto sax player, having played and toured internationally with a variety of original and function bands, most notably Joyshop, who recently released their third album ‘Fables’ and the Brassholes, Nick’s personal big band who were written for, rehearsed and played with by Nick. He is currently working as a writer and producer on a demo for the musical collective know as Latimo with engineer Mark Wyllie (Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, League of Extraordinary gentlemen), to be released later this year.

Nick teaches keyboard at a Yamaha Music School based in Milford, saxophone at a school in Hartley Wintney, works on the bar at Propaganda Music Canteen in Fleet as well as reviewing for a selection of online music sites such as Shejay.net, Bristol LMS.co.uk (live music scene) and Music Gateway. Nick has worked as a session keys player for the Grime/Rap music company Rebirth Music and for Music Gateway under DJ and CEO Jon Skinner on D’n’B rearrangements of several tunes. In the past, Nick has played for many amateur Musical Theatre societies having played through as diverse scores as City of Angels, to Into the Woods, to Footloose as well as acting as Musical Director for the Young Pleasance Theatre Group for their Youth program.
