Spotlight: This Year’s AIM Awards After Party Winner
Tell us a little about yourself? How did you get into music and what is your role in the music industry?
In 2013 I founded a record label called One More Lab and we won an award at FIM as the best independent label for the international market. With the experience gained in scouting artists as A&R and after made records sometimes in executive production, I needed to improve myself and take care of another aspect in the music and follow the opportunities in the field of publishing and synchronization.
Hence the collaboration with various partners, including Music Gateway. I currently prefer this aspect over that of management for artists. That’s why I am now based in London and I created my own brand OML Sync. Next step, my new compilations to highlight the best artists around!
How did you feel when you found out you won?
It was a wonderful feeling! I’ve never won any kind of contest and I was excited about the opportunity to get into the English recording environment.
Why did you want to go to the event?
It’s very important for me to get into the English market because what I do is all about new music. All new companies and agencies base their work on technology, current events and contemporary music. I find myself perfectly in line with new and unsigned emerging artists.
Did you meet anyone during the event?
I bumped into some artists I already know or I came into contact with thanks to my work. It was nice to catch up and share the concert experience with them.
What performance was your favourite?
I loved Johnny Marr’s performance. He is an interesting musician who was able to transform his experience into another personal and quality project. I have also always been a The Smiths fan. Back when I was at school I already bought their vinyl records. And I was intrigued by the purely English scene of new wave and pop.
Tell us more about your radio program! And how can people tune in?
The program is unique. It’s not exclusively broadcast in a single radio station but it is a format reproduced by several radios. I started with a couple of interested web radios, then everything came by itself. Many radios have contacted me in Italy and since last season they have even been broadcast on FM. In addition, the Overview playlist is airing all week at MMRADIO London, a web radio based at Mercato Metropolitano. This is a venue that gets 15,000 people a week! They also host a lot of interesting events thanks to a collaboration with YMX. At MMradio I take care of music supervision and interviews dedicated to artists performing live. The radio app is available via iPhone and Android.
What do you think of Music Gateway and what is your favourite part of the platform?
It’s brilliant in the conception of services for music and for professionals in the sector. It puts together many companies, producers and artists who want opportunities and interesting possibilities in the field of synchronization.
You met some members of the Music Gateway team! What was that like?
I met Mary of Music Gateway, an exquisite person who has all the enthusiasm to transmit in the music industry.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Music Gateway reflects the reality of today, movement, freshness and technology at the same time. I love it. The musical field is constantly evolving and MG is in step with the times. A great opportunity.
I’d also like to say thanks to my precious partners Flipper Music Ltd and Corrado Dierna of Irma Records.
