I’m sure, by tradition, many of you vowed to stick to some new years resolutions this year, have you managed it so far or have you given up already? It is hard to stick to new years resolutions, especially if you’ve challenged yourself something to do every day that you haven’t really done before!
Maybe one of your resolutions was to read more…if that is the case then you’re in luck! We have been writing and posting one blog each day for the first week of January to help you get off to a great start and make 2019 the best year for your music career! If you already have some new years resolutions, some of these should fit in with those. Whether you want to learn a new skill, start a new music project or step out of your comfort zone. Below I’ve given you a brief summary of each article so you can see which ones interest you to have a proper read of!
Our first blog post was ‘How to Get into the Music Industry- What Motivates you?’. To start off with, we’ve given you some motivation. This article focuses on what you have to do as a person to reach your goals. Not who you need to talk to, get signed by or which radio station your music should be played on but the attitude that YOU need in order to make it in the industry. When you’re building your music career it is very easy to get lost in the daily grind. You can easily start getting doubts about your musical path if you forget why you started off in the first place. If you in need of a bit of motivation and guidance this blog post is for you.
Our second blog post of this series talks all things organisation! If you find it impossible to organise, or you’re constantly flooded with things to do, then get reading! Collaboration. It seems to be THE thing to be doing at the moment in the music industry. According to MBW research, the average number of credited songwriters in the US market’s Top 10 streaming hits of 2018, per-track, was a surprisingly high 9.1. With that in mind, it seems to be one of the best ways to get people to listen to your music. This post is very fitting seeing as we’re making resolutions! Everyone needs to get out of their comfort zone in order to succeed in what they are doing. We all like to feel comfortable so pushing the boundaries will always be difficult. However, this post will talk you through little steps you can take in order to gain the confidence to jump right out of that comfort zone and discover a new you! Your life starts at the end of your comfort zone so it is time to get out of it!
Our last post of this new year series is all about making money from your music! Making money from music and getting music placements can be a tricky business to wrap your head around. It’s not as easy as turning up to work and receiving a payslip at the end of the month. There are a few more things you have to do in order to make money. Whether you’re a writer, an artist or someone else in the music industry.
