White Oak Music Hall

As an experienced “gigger” myself, I have played in a few lovely venues (mainly pubs, but that’s neither here nor there). However, like many like me, I have always dreamed of playing at the venues that the greats have played.

The White Oak Music Hall is one such destination for music lovers like myself in the Houston area and due to its unique multi-level indoor/outdoor complex, it provides an unforgettable music experience.

The venue opened in 2015 and has since established a reputation for its incredible lineup of live music, including performances by both local and national bands as well as international DJs. In addition, to live music, the venue hosts a range of other events, such as comedy shows, film screenings, and art exhibitions, making it a truly all-inclusive entertainment space for every audience.

As a self-aware music snob, what excites me about the venue is the calibre of its venue equipment (more on that later). The venue also boasts a spacious layout, which offers multiple areas for nosey parkers to explore, including three stages, two bars, a restaurant, and a rooftop patio with breathtaking views. This makes the venue the perfect place to relax and unwind while enjoying some of the best live music in Houston…and with their previous lineup, it wouldn’t be completely subjective of me to say the best music in the world.

White Oak Music Hall offers three separate performance spaces that can accommodate a variety of events.

The Lawn is the venue’s outdoor space, featuring a large stage with tour-grade sound and lighting, as well as multiple dedicated bars.  Upstairs is the venue’s small indoor performance space, which can accommodate up to 350 guests.

Downstairs is the venue’s large indoor performance space, which can accommodate up to 1,200 guests. No matter which space you choose, White Oak Music Hall’s experienced event professionals are committed to providing exceptional service and ensuring that your event is a success.

To top it all off, if you’re a big ol’ glutton like myself, you’ll love that the White Oak Music Hall offers a great selection of food and drinks to enhance the overall experience. Whether you are looking for a quick snack in between bands or a full meal with all the trimmings, the restaurant will provide quality in spades. With all of this combined, the White Oak Music Hall really is a premier venue that offers an unforgettable experience for all music snobs like myself and entertainment enthusiasts alike!

What famous acts have played at the White Oak Music Hall?

White Oak Music Hall has hosted many famous bands over the years, including some of the biggest names in alternative and indie rock and some of my personal favourites.

Among the notable acts that have graced the venue’s stages are The Black Keys, the Grammy-winning blues rock duo from Akron, Ohio, known for hits like “Tighten Up” and “Lonely Boy.”

Kings of Leon, the Grammy-winning southern rockers from Nashville, Tennessee, have also played at the venue, along with a personal favourite of mine, the Las Vegas-based alt-rockers The Killers, known for hits like “Mr. Brightside” and “Somebody Told Me.”

Other well-known acts that have performed at White Oak Music Hall include The Flaming Lips, the genre-bending psychedelic rock band from Oklahoma City, and The Strokes, the influential New York City rockers who helped define the early 2000s indie rock sound.

The National, the Ohio-based indie rock band known for its moody, introspective sound, has also played at the venue, as has Spoon, the Austin-based band that’s been a fixture on the indie rock scene since the 1990s.

As if that roster wasn’t incredible enough, other acts that have performed at White Oak Music Hall include Interpol, the New York City post-punk revivalists, and Phantogram, the electronic rock duo from upstate New York.

Another of my personal favourites, The Head and the Heart, the Seattle-based indie folk band known for its harmonies and catchy melodies, has also played at the venue, showcasing its unique brand of heartfelt, acoustic music.
