Getting your tracks mastered is essential when you’re looking to share your music on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. However, this can sometimes be very costly and can be very difficult for smaller, independent artists to afford. Despite this, thanks to new technology, companies such as Aria Mastering offer an automated mastering service. This proves to be a much more affordable alternative to having a human master your music.

Aria Mastering

In this article, we will take a look at what Aria Mastering is, their services and pricing. We will also look at some alternatives to Aria Mastering. Be sure to stay until the very end so you don’t miss out on any key information!

What Is Aria Mastering?

Aria Mastering

Aria Mastering is an automated mastering service. Mastering engineer Colin Leonard developed this system. Tuning the specifications himself and getting feedback from many other industry professionals.

What Does Aria Mastering Do?

aria analog mastering

Aria Automated Analog Mastering is a good option if you’re an artist looking for a place to get your song mastered. Other than Aria’s unique digital-analog combo of mastering, it has some controls you can choose from.

A – Moderate: Best suited to dynamic mixes, such as acoustic or classical songs
B – Loud: (Default Level) Standard modern mix with moderate compression
C – Louder: Best for balanced mixes that have already tastefully used compression; works great for loud genres like hip-hop or EDM
D – Loud/Safe: Best for softer songs that need to be loud; it’s sort of a hybrid between A and B for a balance between loudness and dynamics
E – Extra Dynamic: Suited for a cappella, delicate acoustic or classical recordings, dainty film scores, etc

More often than not, Aria Analog Mastering works well if you choose the appropriate Mix Type. However, if you’re not satisfied with how it initially sounds after the first master, you have the opportunity to remaster the same track an additional 5 times until you’re satisfied. This means you can try out all the different mastering mix types to see which sounds best for your song.

Each master comes back at 16-bit/44.1 and 24-bit/44.1. For another ten dollars, you could request a 48 kHz master if you need it. There’s also an MFiT option (Mastered for Apple Music) if you plan to sell your music on this particular platform. Again, that’s an additional $10/song, but you won’t need those masters if you don’t plan on uploading to Apple Music.

One thing to keep in mind before you decide to use Aria Mastering is to prep the files accordingly. This means you have to trim and fade the song to your liking beforehand. Also, you need to make sure your bounce isn’t already limited for loudness. You also have to leave a bit of pre-and post-roll at the head and tail of the track.

Aria Mastering Prices

Aria Mastering pricing

Aria automated mastering is not as expensive as you may think. For $49 a month, you get ten masters.

For any monthly plan, you have to pay an extra $10 for MFiT files (mastered for iTunes) and $10 for 48 kHz files. You can also pay a $19 flat fee for one mastered song.

You can additionally get yourself an Aria Mastering free trial, so take a look at their website.

All in all, this is far more affordable than paying someone to master your track and is competitively priced with other alternatives. This leads us on to the next part of this article.

Alternatives To Aria Mastering

In this section, we will take a look at some alternatives to Aria mastering and spark the LANDR vs Aria debate.

LANDR

LANDR

LANDR is an online, cloud-based, evolving, automated mastering engine that uses artificial intelligence to master songs. It was developed in 2012 by MixGenius in Montreal, Canada, and is one of the major players in the rapidly developing online mastering industry.

LANDR is straightforward and easy to use, with different subscription plans offering additional services. For $48/year, you can get a quick and dirty master on unlimited songs using a reference track to tailor your unique master.

For the Pro subscription under the yearly plan, you can pay either $25 a month, or pay $299 a year, and save 37%. Gold standard is how LANDR describes the result of the master from the Pro subscription. For the Pro subscription, your masters get unlimited downloads for low-resolution MP3s, HI-MP3s, WAVs, and HD WAVs.

eMastered

eMastered

Engineer Smith Carlson and electronic music artist Collin McLoughlin founded eMastered. eMastered offers more control over your master than LANDR. With eMastered you also get the most bang for your buck out of a one-year commitment, which is billed at $13/month upfront, or $19 month-to-month.

A one-month subscription will run you $49 like Aria Mastering. However, eMastered offers more customization than Aria. It gives you greater control over EQ, stereo width, volume/compression, and more.
