We hooked up with Jerome @ Air Mastering in Kingston London.
Music Gateway caught up with Jerome Schmitt at his London based mastering studio ‘Air Mastering’. After bombarding his studio with lighting equipment we had a moment to absorb the light and airy atmosphere. The space was flooded with natural light, which in my experience seems to be all too rare (we had to cover up some of the windows so unfortunately you can’t really tell in the video). After kindly sorting us out with about 100 million coffees we all sat down and had a good chat with Jerome.. You can watch it all below (well, all the relevant stuff anyway!)
Jerome Schmitt has been doing mastering for the last 15 years with an active background in music production and sound engineer spanning over 20 years.
Jerome made his way to London in 2001, and found himself producing and mixing for various South London Hip Hop artists before he started working in a busy post production facility in Soho – London – doing audio mastering on a Sadie System as well as sound editing/mixing for broadcast TV and DVD authoring (C4, BBC, Sky, … ).
In 2006 Jerome decide to open his own mastering studio in order to provide to independent artist affordable but very high end mastering service. Air Mastering was born… The studio has a large independent based clientele and surely establishing itself for its unique sonic quality. Jerome currently works on most of the Ninja Tune, Big Dada’s and Hydrogen Dukebox catalogues.
You can catch Jerome and Air Mastering Studios on Music Gateway come spring 2013. He really is a nice guy and we wish him all the best for 2013 and beyond.
