We sat down with one of our wonderful winners, Francetta who is the CEO of music blog, Dats Muzik, to discuss why she applied, what she’s most excited about and more! Keep reading to find out a little more about her!
I entered the competition so I could connect with CEOs, founders and trailblazers in the music, media, app and social media (YouTube, TikTok) Industries. To get my name out there and get more people knowing of me. I write about 2 of the biggest genres in the last 6-7 years, Afrobeat and Reggaeton.
Black people need a place where their voices will be heard and I want to be the leading black female music blogger of this decade and beyond. I want to get recognition in the music and blogging industries. It’s not, always, about how many followers you have but about showing of your talent and the world needs that special gift that only I have.
More and more people need to know of unsigned, independent and emerging talents in Afrobeat, Amapiano, HipHop, Dance/ Electro/ House, Funk and Reggaeton/ Latin music and related genres. More artists to DJs need to know about the benefits of EPKs plus CEOs need to understand the benefits of copywriting in these industries.
I graduated around 12 years ago, graduating with a Music Business Degree from ACM, where Grammy Award winner Ed Sheeran studied and I originate from Nigeria and Ghana. I have an eclectic ear for music and in-depth knowledge about the music industry. Inspired by my cultures and travelling the world, I’m here to support African, multicultural and diverse emerging talents to DJs.
At Dats Muzik, I’m the woman behind the award nominated, Vuelio Blog featured, ‘Best Music Blog’ for Infinity Blog Awards 2021, nominated for UK Blog Awards 2018, ‘Blogger of The Week’ by Obsessory.com and featured on Songkick App, is Afrobeat music blog, Dats Muzik Blog. She write reviews and support Afrobeat, Amapiano, HipHop, Dance/ Electro/ House, Funk, Reggaeton/ Latin music and related genres for emerging talents, musicians to DJs and supports live music and festivals.
Hearing Kanya King talk, as the MOBO Awards is what my blog is all about. Supporting black and diverse musicians + diverse musicians in the other genres I focus on. Hearing Clara Amfo talk, as she helps with the BBC Music Introducing and BBC Live Lounge, which is perfect, as I want to get to know of emerging talents that are going to hit the big time e.g. Celeste, Arlo Parks, Griff etc. Negla Abdela, at Ministry of Sound is perfect.
Dats Muzik is all about the Dance/ Electro/ House music scene too. Holly H… How to become the biggest and leading person in an industry and/ or on an app. My dream is to work with all the right speakers/ panellists (CEOS, trailblazers etc) and to gain opportunities that will elevate my music and blogging, EPK and copywriting career.
This conference will give me more knowledge about these industries, now, and how they are adapting to their audiences and society. It will help me on knowing how to gain more recognition and becoming more confident + becoming a successful CEO and trailblazer in your career.
