Are you a young, budding radio presenter? Or maybe you’re a producer, DJ, songwriter or performer? If you’re looking to build your skills, speak directly to music industry professionals and gain valuable work experience then free up your schedule for Capital XTRA’s Music Potential event (sponsored by Barclaycard) this Friday.
Check out more about the event here.
There will be dedicated workshops to take part in to help develop your skills in your chosen area (radio, production, DJ’ing, Songwriting techniques). Getting hands on knowledge and advice is by far the best way to improve your skills.
Our very own Clare Knight from the Music Gateway team shall be attending so feel free to have a chat with her for dedicated advice about the industry and using Music Gateway!
Also as part of the programme, Barclaycard will provide access to a network of music and entertainment-related partnerships to help participants gain work experience and performance opportunities. Many of the young people involved in Music Potential have gained valuable experience working or performing at a number of renowned Barclaycard British music events and venues, including Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park, the Barclaycard Mercury Prize and the NIA (National Indoor Arena).
Throughout the year, MPX participants will be supported by professional tutors, special guests, presenters from Capital Xtra and Barclays employees. The Music Potential Network, consisting of industry executives from Capital Xtra, Island Records, GRM Daily and EGA music, will provide mentoring throughout the project. Young people will also be given opportunities to work with music industry professionals, includes DV8 Training, Punch, Industry In The Streets (IITS) and established musicians like London singer Joel Compass and American rapper and model Dominique Young Unique.
Joel Compass, London singer and Music Potential Ambassador said: “I’m really pleased to be working with Capital XTRA and Barclaycard on their Music Potential scheme. There are many young people out there who have a ton of potential but just need a helping hand or advice on how to get into these industries and need access to training. This scheme does that and I’m proud to be an ambassador for it.”
Capital Xtra presenter Jade Avia said: “Music Potential is amazing for aspiring individuals, it really does set aside the people who have a real passion and pushes them into the industry with a head start! I wish I had something like Music Potential when I was trying to get into radio!”
The 2014 Music Potential programme will culminate with a final showcase event later this summer at leading London performing arts venue the Roundhouse (register for the event here) with performances from project ambassadors, special guests and Music Potential participants.
Make sure you don’t miss out on this brilliant opportunity. Furthermore, connect with industry professionals today by posting a project today on Music Gateway, it’s the best way to connect online!
