Being a bassist I have a special bond with our drummer… I mean we are the rhythm section so we have to support each other right? But in the same time we do have a bit of a banter constantly going on. As much as he lays sick beats for my highly complicated bass solos (or as he refers to them “c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c”) I can’t help but carrying on the constant making-fun-of-each-other war between us. With this in mind I wanted to share the top uses I have found of our drummer, because this is what band mates do!

1. They help with other band member’s concentration

There’s nothing better to put your concentration on the test than to try and tune your bass/guitar with a drum solo in the background.

2. By looking at your drummer you can find out if the stage is levelled…

…they drool from both sides

3. Contribution to songwriting

What do you think shall I hit the china or the crash?
Wanna hear my new song idea? … ermmm maybe next time

4. Unexpected new ideas being brought to liVe

So… we have practiced this song so many times but I just needed to insert this spontaneous roll while on stage… oh wait I messed it up where were we again?

5. They always help improving your bass/guitar skills

Pushing you to the limit, constantly increasing the original speed of the song, he knows you can do it and you know you can do it! He’ll be there for you until you’re the master of shredding!

But all jokes aside without our drummer our music would have never been what it is and… because I feel bad now please do write some bassist jokes below in the comments and let’s even this out!!!
