Next week our CEO, Jon Skinner will be heading over to LA to attend a number of conferences including LA Sync Mission.
The event is held annually and co-hosted by the Music Publishers Association (MPA), UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and British Phonographic Industry (BPI). An ‘eclectic mix of UK independent music companies travel to LA to learn about the increasingly important sync licensing market, meet and network with some of the most important music supervisors and placement executives in the TV, film, advertising and computer games markets in Los Angeles’.
We’ve been able to provide Music Gateway members with the opportunity to showcase their tracks to high-level music supervisors whilst we’re out there. To do this we ran our own project and after 130 pitches and hundreds of tracks to A&R we thought we’d show you some of the members that were chosen for the opportunity!
“As a singer-songwriter, vocalist, topline writer, and general all round musician who lives and breathes music as a career, I find the one golden rule within the industry to be networking. It’s about who you know, meet, get on with, bounce great ideas with, as well as being a talented music-maker. Music Gateway is a platform that allows like-minded music industry people to come together and connect through exciting new opportunities. I am meeting a great range of people who are all keen to help and get creative. The LA Sync Mission opportunity is one example of how Music Gateway is proving to be a powerful connector of music business across the pond; I am excited to be involved and looking forward to seeing what happens in the future.”
“JTV Digital is a digital distribution and publishing company based in France. We represent many artists from various countries and recently onboarded some great acts, such as the UK-based band SEAWAVES who were selected for this opportunity. MusicGateway is regularly offering great opportunities to help with representing our artists and taking their career to the next level, we are definitely happy to be a partner.”
“I’m a musician, producer, remixer and sound engineer happy to find a site like MG ideal to find opps for my different industry abilities in one place. Your latest efforts have been really appreciated since you are aiming at bigger business opps for your members. I’m really excited to take part in the LA Sync Mission. I’m sure it will bring exciting new opportunities for all of us.”
“Music Gateway is now a big part of my career within the industry. It has opened up opportunities that previously, were very hard to come by. It also gives you access to a multitude of talented individuals to fit any needs you may have for your current project(s). Not only that, but it is all done within a safe and secure environment. Thank you once again, and look forward to hearing how LA Sync Mission goes.”
“As a songwriter and producer, I’m always in search of new opportunities for both my existing catalogue and writing to spec. Music Gateway has so many things going on to keep me inspired.”
“As a young producer, I spend all my time making music in my studio, creating sounds and songs that I hope will get me noticed; Music Gateway is helping me make industry connections around the world that would take years to make with traditional networking, it’s an essential tool for the modern industry pro.” James Grover, Peak Studios, UK
“I’ve been with Music Gateway pretty much since inception and it’s become one of my ‘go to’ places to connect with industry people online and to seek out work opportunities. There’s a good range and constant supply of projects. I am thrilled to have been selected to have work represented at the LA Sync mission. This is something that a small business such as mine would otherwise find cost prohibitive.”
“I’m a Swedish songwriter & producer located in Stockholm. I run my own studio and I work on an international basis with established and upcoming artists. I’m currently signed to Anders Bagge’s (Guetta, J-Lo, Celine Dion) Publishing. In terms of instruments I play drums, guitar, bass, keys and sing. I have found Music Gateway to be the best solution out there for finding new exciting projects to work on and new connections with fellow songwriters.”
“Deuce & Charger are on the cusp of a major breakthrough in 2015. Their new single ‘Tear Down The Barricades’ has received support from BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6music as well as from influential blogs. Idolator has described their music as “Intense pop with…lyrical depth, a fantastic throwback beat, soaring strings and a whole lot of soul”. The act is excited about this opportunity, Yoni Collier of Deuce & Charger explains; “our music is intended to be cinematic in its scope. We love seeing it matched to video, and hopefully we could soon be seeing our songs in some exciting and unexpected places! We haven’t been using Music Gateway for long but the experience has been very positive so far. They have been very proactive in pushing our tracks – it’s great to know that they are out there fighting our corner!”
“I have written and produced music for a number of years and throughout I’ve always searched for new ways to partner and expose the compositions I create. When I discovered Music Gateway I was surprised at the range of quality projects a composer like myself could pitch his music to. And when you couple an intuitive simplistic dashboard where I can keep track of my pitches and supportive advice where I need it; I now know that Music Gateway was the right choice for me to move my compositions forward.”
“We have been a member of Music Gateway for around a month now and even in that small space of time the opportunities that have been available to Supersonic Media as a label and publishing company have been vast. Music Gateway have put together a great platform that allows all sides of the Music Industry to connect and do invaluable business together.”
“Propaganda is the UK’s biggest nightclub events promoters with over 20 weekly events across the UK, Australia and Brazil. We also manage the artist Kerri Watt, who is currently getting a lot of Radio support with new single ‘Long Way Home’ and just had her national TV debut on The Weekend show on ITV. Kerri has recently supported The Overtones on a 27 date tour as well as supporting Mike & The Mechanics and Nina Nesbitt. Music Gateway has been a great service in helping us connect Kerri’s music with exciting new opportunities allowing us to easily pitch her for projects as a performer and a songwriter. We’d really recommend the service to anyone as we’ve found it so beneficial.”
“We are a family songwriting team made up of Paul, Lenny, Paula and Kathleen. 4 singers/performers, lyricists, composers, musicians. We really apprecaite the many opportunities that are coming up daily, some of which we will hopefully benefit from. We are pleased to have had a song chosen for the LA Sync Mission. Knowing how high the standard of music is on the site and the stiff competition we are very fortunate. We feel we have a great chance of finding success here on Music Gateway as writers and composers, espectially as out music spans virtually all genres, so we are chasing up all the sync licensing opportunities in particular. We would certainly recommend Music Gateway to anyone with talent and drive who wants to make it in the Music Business. Music Gateway has the contacts if you can deliver the goods.”
“My name is Iain Mahanty, I am a composer and producer based in Cardiff. Currently I compose and produce library music for several music production libraries, as well as brief directed bespoke tracks. From 2006-2014 I was a songwriter and guitarist in the band Kids In Glass Houses. Securing 4 top 40 albums and extensive national radio play. This is a great opportunity for any composer or producer to be involved with, as getting your tracks heard and in front of the right people is the most difficult part of the process. Music Gateway have delivered yet another amazing opportunity for writers.”
