The EQ3 7 Band (EQ iii) is a professional-grade equalizer from Avid, the maker of Pro Tools

EQ3 7 Band

This equalizer is designed to provide precise control over the frequency spectrum of audio signals. It features seven bands of equalization, each with a range of +/- 15dB.

The EQ3 7 Band also includes a high-pass filter and a low-pass filter, both with adjustable cutoff frequencies. Additionally, it provides a bypass switch for comparing the sound of the equalized signal to the original signal.

The EQ3 7 Band is an ideal choice for mixing and mastering applications, as it allows for precise control over the frequency spectrum. It is also well-suited for live sound, as it provides the flexibility to make quick adjustments on the fly.

EQ3 7 Band Features

  • Selectable shelving filters
  • Resolution double precision 48-bit
  • Flexibility and optimal DSP
  • Selectable EQ process types
  • High-resolution double-precision settings

Advice On Types of EQ3 7 Band

Hi-Pass and Low Pass filters are useful for removing frequencies above or below a certain point. These can be utilized to reduce the bass, rumble, or boominess from some instruments. Bell curves are the most typical EQ curve. They boost or cut at the centre frequency while tapering off towards either side, creating a bell shape.

If the Q is set high then it will be narrow and sharp; if it is low then it will be wide and softer sounding. Shelf EQ boosts or cuts audio at the selected frequency point and stays that way for all other frequencies in the spectrum; a low shelf boosts everything below its target frequency, while a high shelf boosts everything above.

For example, if you boost with a low shelf at 100Hz then all frequencies below 100Hz will remain boosted down to 0Hz.
