THE A SIDE: A DAY IN THE LIFE

As junior producer at Universal Production Music you will be part of a team of producers releasing production music albums for the purpose of being synced on TV, advertising and other media. You will provide creative and administrative support to the production team while developing the craft of producing albums yourself.  You will be expected to:

  • Produce albums under mentorship from the team of producers
  • Provide support to our joint venture labels
  • Assist in the ingestion of bulk catalogue projects, such as Archival & Classical repertoire
  • Provide creative support to the production team in back catalogue tagging
  • Research and identify current music trends and gaps in the catalogue
  • Manage composer submissions inbox and research new talent to join roster
  • Carry out stem delivery requests
  • Assist in admin duties, including copyright exports, release reports
  • Any other ad hoc duties as directed by Head Of Production

THE B SIDE: SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

BE CREATIVE 

  • Develop album briefs
  • Research what music gets used on visual media
  • Provide clear and concise creative feedback on how tracks could be improved to fit the brief

BE ORGANISED

  • Ensure all task are carried out in an organised and clear way
  • Work to deadlines, being able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Carry out administrative duties with care and efficiently

BE COLLABORATIVE

  • Work closely with the team of producers, gaining knowledge from their experience and providing support when required
  • Be a team player who can integrate well with the wider production music team, liaising with other areas of the business when required

BE ANALYTICAL 

  • Think analytically about how and why music is used in media
  • Understand data to help inform and educate on new content to commission

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL

  • A passion and understanding of the music and media business
  • A broad knowledge and interest in music across a wide variety of styles & genres
  • Organised, methodical and process driven
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work to deadlines
  • Be proactive and show initiative when required

DESIRABLE

  • Degree-level qualification in music, media or closely related discipline
  • Working industry experience at a publisher, production library or sync agency
  • Understanding of our client base and where are music is used
  • Experience in metadata taxonomy and tagging of music
  • Experience working with DAWs, such as Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton
