Bio

“Anna Schulze is a refreshing update on the singer/songwriter. She plays electric guitar, sings from the heart, and brings energy and passion to the stage. She simmers and shimmers somewhere between power pop and emo rock, and her melodies evoke the great American summer…” ~ Glen Ballard

Anna Schulze is a Minnesota native singer-songwriter and guitarist whose music oscillates between raw pop and indie rock.

No Depression Journal acclaims Schulze as a “multi-dimensional” and “charismatic” songwriter and “a praiseworthy lead individual that is capable of giving [this] band a distinct edge.” Her recent album "Pickford Market" received high praise from Pulse Music TV blog and MPR’s Local Current Blog, and Indie Music Review recently coined the artist as “L.A.’s One to Watch.” This past June, she played an 11-show stretch as a part of her "Closer Tour."

A prolific songwriter since she picked up her first guitar at age 9, Schulze’s early influences included Sheryl Crow and Liz Phair. She has two full albums and two EPs under her belt. While studying Popular Music at USC, she opened for the Beach Boys and worked with mentor and Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter, Glen Ballard.

Schulze currently lives in Silver Lake, CA where she performs both solo and with her band.

As a songwriter, Schulze aspires to create songs that resonate universally: "I write because I want to make people feel. I want to give people the permission that they don’t give themselves; permission to cry, to laugh, to question, to wonder, to escape, to smile, to be alone, to dance, and to lose and find themselves in the moment.”
