Description

I'm looking to work/collaborate with string players - specifically Violin, Viola and Cello (whether you're a multi-instrumentalist or play only one of them isn't an issue!). The project: I'm a composer for media, and I'm looking to develop my own personal string library, which I may offer commercially at some point down the line. I'm exploring a few options at the moment, which are recording remotely (in your studio or location of choice) or recording on location / hiring a recording space [churches, halls, bunkers!] and working through the same performance list. Pros's and Con's for each as usual, but I wanted to see if there was any appetite for working remotely on musicgateway. Great examples of existing commercial libraries are made by Spitfire Audio, 8Dio, but as you can imagine these come with huge budgets, recorded in world class locations (air adel studios for example) and world class musicians.. the sound is pristine as you'd expect, but I'm looking for something a little less perfect, with imperfections and character... By 'performances', I mean recording one playing style one note at a time. for example, a sustained long note, starting whisper quietly, increasing in vibrato and volume, and then fading away into silence. We'd record this for all notes, and I'd then implement these samples into a playable kontakt instrument. I've a list of performance styles I'd like to have recorded, but open to anything you might think sounds good too - some great examples are in Spitfire's 'London Contemporary Orchestra' (https://youtu.be/Lsxs7S-XblU?t=350) with their extended playing techniques. Let me know if this sounds of interest to you! Cheers, Mic
