About King Poyaviack
King Poyaviack: improvised acid orchestra; the antidote for silence!
The band is the brain-child of Marek Rzeczkowski, aka Marek-Lo, or Krec, with co-founders
Michal Szczerba the original bass player of EKG 1983 and Maciek Miernik.
Marek alone has played in every lineup from the beginning.
Hey, they're Polish, and they'll give you more details if they remember them! ;-)
After a late-night session, Michal invented the word “Poyaviack”
Things appear out of thin air, which is the nature of improv. The guys couldn't stop laughing, and the name stuck.
They have too many musical influences to do them justice, but “King” in King Poyaviack is a direct homage to King Crimson and Robert Fripp. One of their songs is “Poyaviack for Robert F.”
Marek, Michal and Maciek joined with an ever-changing lineup of amazing local and international musicians, playing in improv sessions in clubs and studios in and around Brooklyn and Manhattan, including the legendary CBGBs, gaining a small but loyal fanbase along the way.
They recorded nearly all of their gigs, which has resulted in a fairly large body of work, which is finally being released, and getting excellent feedback from listeners, who have finally caught up with their music!
