Mette Henriette

Mette Henriette is a saxophonist, composer and artist from Norway of Sea-Sámi descent. Her double debut album was released on ECM Records in 2015 and critically acclaimed worldwide. She grew up in Trondheim surrounded by a pulsating jazz scene that got her into arts at an early age. As a teenager she toured internationally with her bands and performed with artists from a wide range of fields. Among her creative collaborators are performance artist Marina Abramovic, photographer Anton Corbijn and producer Manfred Eicher. In 2016 she recorded music for the theater piece EDDA directed by Robert Wilson in collaboration with CocoRosie and Valgeir Sigurdsson. In 2017 she premiered the solo performance In Between at documenta14 inside Athens Concert Hall. Later that year she composed music for the opening of the indigenous festival Riddu Riddu at the 100th anniversary of the Sámi rights meeting, featuring a throat singer from the Tuvan vocal group Huun-Huur-Tu.
