Seoul’s global phenomenon ZEROBASEONE (ZB1) have dropped their first full-length Korean studio album NEVER SAY NEVER, released September 1, 2025 via WAKEONE.
What Makes NEVER SAY NEVER Special
Leading the album, “ICONIK” blends nu-disco grooves with bold pop sensibility – and is designed to spotlight ZB1’s live energy and artistry. The track was crafted by a mix of international & Korean composers (Ronny Svendsen; Adrian Thesen; Henrik Heaven; Anne Judith Wik) with lyrics by Rick Bridges, SAINT, 강은정, 조은솔 of Jamfactory, and others.
Ahead of the full release, ZB1 released the single “Slam Dunk” on July 23, 2025. Various concept photos, teaser films, and promotional material followed through July – August.

Track List Highlights
The album features 10 tracks in its “Scents” version, including:
- ICONIK
- SLAM DUNK
- Lovesick Game
- Goosebumps
- Dumb
- NOW OR NEVER (Korean ver.)
- EXTRA
- Long Way Back
- Star Eyes
- I Know U Know
NEVER SAY NEVER feels like a statement of evolution for ZB1. Some of its core ideas include:
- Ambition & Identity: “ICONIK” in particular speaks to the group’s journey – moving beyond outsider expectations, and staking their claim to a long-lasting legacy rather than transient success.
- Versatility: The album moves between high-energy dance, pop hooks, atmospheric ballads, and moments built to showcase vocal range.
- Global Reach + Local Roots: While the group is Korean, their sound, production team, and thematic ambition show a truly global mindset – without losing the K-pop identity they were formed with.
Impact & Reception
- NEVER SAY NEVER debuted at #1 on South Korea’s charts and has strong sales in Japan. “Never Say Never” also topped iTunes Top Albums charts in Qatar, Russia and the Czech Republic, as well as debuting at #4 on the Worldwide iTunes Albums chart.
- The album sold over 1.1 million copies on release day making this project their 6th consecutive million seller.
- Fans have praised the consistency of the album: rather than having just a few standout tracks, many believe there is something strong throughout. (E.g. social media reactions to Star Eyes and Long Way Back are especially enthusiastic.)
