This article will take a look at some of his previous tours, the different places he has visited, the venues he has played, and the response he has received from his fans.

We will also explore how his live performances have evolved over the years. So let’s dive in and explore the world of Tom Misch and his incredible live performances!

Tom Misch is a British singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He began playing the guitar and singing at a young age. He went on to study music production and sound engineering at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance.

Tom Misch, the East Dulwich native was a sixth-form student, turned bedroom producer when he wasn’t studying for his A-levels. Misch does not currently have any tour dates scheduled for 2023 however, we are going to take a look at previous Tom Misch tours/concerts…

Tom Misch – Montreux Jazz Festival 2019

Tom Misch’s live performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2019 was a show to remember. The British multi-instrumentalist and producer took the stage with a full band, featuring a live drummer, bassist, keyboardist, and guitarist. Misch played a mix of his own original tunes, as well as covers of classic soul and jazz songs. His performance was full of energy and emotion, as he captivated the audience with his smooth vocals, skilful guitar playing, and intricate rhythms.

The setlist included fan favourites such as “South of the River,” “It Runs Through Me,” and “Movie,” as well as covers of songs by the likes of Stevie Wonder and Erykah Badu. The show was a huge success, and it was clear that Misch had won over the crowd with his incredible musicianship and engaging stage presence.

As soon as the Tom Misch tour started and he stepped onto the stage, it was clear that he had a special connection with the stylish, funky audience. He gave them exactly what they were hoping for – a free-flowing performance of his charming disco music. From jazzy tunes like “Tidal Wave” and “Movie” to upbeat numbers such as “Disco Yes” and “Lost In Paris,” Misch’s unique ability to create individual songs that still flowed together was undeniable.

Misch and Michael Kiwanuka took the stage together to perform their song “Money”, a catchy tune about the pursuit of wealth. The audience swayed to the music and some even showed off their best disco moves. Is it really love that drives people to search for money, or does money just lead to love? That’s a question left unanswered, but one thing is certain – everyone had a great time jamming out to “Money”.

Tom Misch Chicago

On Tuesday night, Tom Misch brought his soulful music to The Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, a much larger venue than the one he played four years ago on his Geography tour. It was clear that his fan base had grown tremendously since then, as the ballroom was packed with people ready to dance and show their appreciation for Tom’s sound. As the lights went dark and silhouetted the band members, fans erupted when Tom walked out onto the stage.

Kicking off the set with “What Kinda Music” from his latest album of the same name, it was clear that even as he grows in popularity, Tom remains true to himself and his music. Everyone kept respectful of their personal space while they enjoyed themselves on the dance floor.

The crowd at The Aragon Ballroom was alive with energy as the drums, bass and guitar filled the room. Lights bounced off the disco ball on stage and everyone was ready to dance. I had never seen such a unified group of people moving together before; usually, there are some just nodding along to the music, but this time everyone was truly grooving. The soft violin notes added a peaceful layer to Tom’s melodic plucking, creating an atmosphere that could not be matched elsewhere on the Tom Misch Tour.

The show was a memorable experience, with Misch’s signature blend of soul, jazz, hip-hop, and electronica creating an immersive and unique atmosphere. The show features a full band, live instruments, and a host of special guests. Fans can expect to hear some of Misch’s most popular songs, as well as some new material from his upcoming albums. With its stunning acoustics and intimate atmosphere, the Oakland Fox Theater is the perfect venue for a Tom Misch show.

Tom Misch Tiny Desk Concert

Tom Misch’s Tiny Desk performance on YouTube is a stunning showcase of his incredible talent. He performs four of his original songs, including “Water Baby,” “South of the River,” “Movie,” and “It Runs Through Me,” backed by a full band.

His soulful singing and expert guitar playing are captivating, and he even takes a few moments to show off his beatboxing skills. The atmosphere of the performance is relaxed and intimate, and Misch’s charisma and charm shine through. This performance is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates great music and was a segue into the Tom Misch Tour.

Tom Misch’s musical influences are wide-ranging and include jazz, hip-hop, soul, funk, and electronic music. He has cited artists such as J Dilla, Flying Lotus, Jamiroquai, Jimi Hendrix, and Madlib as major influences on his sound.

He has also credited producers such as Madlib, Flying Lotus, and Kaytranada as inspirations. Additionally, he has cited artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Michael Jackson as major influences on his production style.

A Master of Self-Production

A multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and alumnus of Trinity Laban College. It’s clear Misch is a musician who doesn’t come around too often. One of the main factors in his success is his ability to record, mix and master his own material. He does this all from the comfort of his own bedroom at a professional standard.

A lot of us use Logic and Ableton but it’s not just recording on these programs that will make your work stand out. A simple premise for mixing would be to first turn all stems right down so they are just audible. This way you have room to colour the track with EQ and panning. You then have the space to compress each instrument and add relevant effects to create your desired sound.

Obviously, before mixing, it’s also important to remember your recordings have to be pristine. Make sure you don’t settle for less. Insure the tone of your instruments is exactly how you want them. Adopt a professional approach to handling your tracks. Imagine how you’d want them to sound if you were listening to them whilst streaming or on the radio.

Here’s some further reading on mixing and mastering with Logic and Ableton.

His debut EP, Beat Tape 1, was released in 2014, followed by his debut studio album, Geography, in 2018. As an avid fan of multiple genres, Misch has collaborated with the finest young artists and musicians such as the likes of Zak Abel, Carmody, Novelist, Loyle Carner, Yussef Dayes and many others.

Misch is willing to make a track with anyone who inspires him. This is a great way to be an upcoming and unsigned artist as the more you collaborate, the more friends you make in the industry. In such a challenging industry to break, it’s never a bad idea to have as many people as you can singing your praises and dropping your name as a recommendation.

The best thing to do is just never say no; if the opportunity comes to collaborate then take it even if you’re sceptical. It may not turn out to be a project that works; you won’t know unless you try. The worst that can happen is you learn to stay away from those artists and the best, are you create a slick track that boosts both of your profiles.

Collaborations are always intriguing amongst well-known artists. There’s no reason if you’re unsigned and independent that you shouldn’t turn your hand to it and see what benefits it brings.

Non Stop Releasing

Misch’s last release was a 5-day project that he challenged himself to complete. He recorded, mastered and released a track every day for 5 days and for such a short completion time, the fact he has 5 credible songs he can release as an EP is pretty impressive. Audiences like to see this from upcoming artists as it shows commitment and dedication; it shows more of a ‘doing it for the love of music approach’ as opposed to doing it for the glory and the limelight.

Ed Sheeran did a similar thing in his early days with his ‘No.5 Collaborations’ in which he released a song he had written with 5 different grime artists on one EP. Again, this links back to the benefits of upcoming acts collaborating. Of course, this EP was not rushed; although it was completed in 5 days, Misch ensured that the release quality was still of a professional standard.

If you get the chance it would be worth setting yourself a project like this or maybe uploading to YouTube or Instagram each day (teaser videos- snippets of songs you’re working on).  The more good quality stuff you put out, the more hardworking you seem, bettering the chance you have of getting your name noted.
