The creation of every brilliant film usually starts not in the director’s chair, but in the office of a producer. Today, we will be giving a rundown of 10 of the most famous movie producers that we love!

Producers are accountable for lighting the spark that adapts an idea into a huge production of film crew, screenwriters, visual effects artists, actors and actresses. 

Many producers work side-by-side with a director on everything from music cues to budget concerns. Others will ignite the initial flames and then govern from a distance with a preference to let a film develop organically under a shared vision.

Below are some of the most famous movie producers in Hollywood who work tirelessly to entertain audiences. Although their work may take place mainly behind the curtain, their impact is nothing short of spectacular.

Producers plan and organise many aspects of film production. Including the script, coordinating writing, directing, editing, and arranging financing.

There are plenty of movie producers who have made a name for themselves and achieved awards over the years. 

Here are some of our top movie producers who have created inspirational work:

Michael Mann

Mann was a student at London’s International Film School and began his career in the late 70s. Writing for TV shows such as Starsky and Hutch. 

He directed his first film in 1979, award-winning prison drama The Jericho Mile. He is a great producer with his work on U.S. 80s cop show Miami Vice. As well as producing/directing Heat starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. 

For his work, he has received nominations from international organisations and juries. Including the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, Cannes, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. 

Steven Spielberg

Spielberg is simply one of the most influential and famous American movie producers in the history of cinema

Steven Spielberg is Hollywood’s best-known director, and one of the world’s wealthiest filmmakers. 

He has an extraordinary number of commercially and critically acclaimed credits to his name. 

Including his work on Schindler’s List which won Golden Globe, BAFTA and Academy Award for best picture.

Spike Lee

Spike Lee was born Shelton Jackson Lee on March 20, 1957, in Atlanta, Georgia but moved to New York at a young age. 

Lee came from an artistic, education-grounded background. His father was a jazz musician and his mother, a schoolteacher. 

Lee has won lots of awards for his work which has focused on race relations, racism in the black community and poverty. His work includes Do the Right Thing, Jungle Fever, Mo Better Blues, Malcolm X.

Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. To Tony Tarantino – an Italian-American actor and musician from New York, and Connie (McHugh), a nurse. 

Tarantino moved with his mother to Torrance, California, when he was four years old.

He has produced and directed films such as Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, Tony Jaa’s martial arts movie The Protector (aka U.K Warrior King).

Irwin Winkler

American Producer Irwin Winkler is to thank for the production of Rocky and Goodfellas.

He has created over 55 Hollywood productions including Creed, The Wolf of Wall Street and The Gambler in his most recent work. 

For his contribution to the motion picture industry, Winkler has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard. 

He was also the recipient of the 2017 Producers Guild of America’s David O. Selznick Achievement Award for his work in motion pictures.

Kathleen Kennedy

With over 60 films and 120 Academy Award nominations, American producer Kathleen Kennedy is one of the most sought-after executives in Hollywood. 

She started her career as the personal secretary to Steven Spielberg. In 1981, she co-founded the production company Amblin Entertainment with Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall. 

She has produced films such as E.T the Extra Terrestrial, The Sixth Sense, Munich and The Mandalorian.

Nina Jacobson

Nina Jacobson is an American film executive. She was the president of the Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company until 2006. 

With Dawn Steel, Gail Berman and Sherry Lansing, she was one of the last of a handful of women to head a Hollywood film studio since the 1980s.

She established her own production company called Color Force in 2007. And was also the producer of The Hunger Games film series.

Kevin Feige

Kevin Feige is an American film and television producer. He has been the president of Marvel Studios and the initial creator and producer of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise since 2007.

The films he has produced have a combined worldwide box office gross of over $26.8 billion. 

Feige is a member of the Producers Guild of America. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture for producing Black Panther in 2019, the first superhero film ever to receive a Best Picture nomination!

On July 21, 2019, Avengers: Endgame, which he produced, became the highest-grossing film of all time. In the same year, he became the chief creative officer of Marvel Entertainment.

Frank Marshall

Frank Wilton Marshall, born in 1946, is an American film producer and director. He often works alongside his wife, Kathleen Kennedy. 

With Kennedy and Steven Spielberg, he was one of the founders of Amblin Entertainment. In 1991 he founded The Kennedy/Marshall Company, a film production company that has a contract with DreamWorks.

Marshall has consistently collaborated with directors such as Spielberg, Paul Greengrass, and Peter Bogdanovich.

He also received the Irving G  Thalberg Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2018. Awarded to “Creative producers, whose bodies of work reflect a consistently high quality of motion picture production.”

Jason Blum

Jason Ferus Blum is one of the most famous horror movie producers. 

He founded Blumhouse Productions. Which has produced the horror franchises Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and The Purge. 

Blum has also produced critical films, such as Sinister, Oculus, The Gift, Hush, and Split. You will definitely need to hide behind a cushion for those ones!

Lastly, Blum received nominations for the Academy Award for Best Picture for producing Whiplash, Get Out, and BlacKkKlansman.
