We all know that when we can go traveling it can be a lot of fun. But, we also know that good music can totally brighten up our days! You may not be the type of person who downloads songs or creates a number of playlists. Perhaps you just like to go with the flow and pick music that sounds great and then listen to those songs over and over again. If this sounds like you, then you need to read this Gaana review!

Gaana

Gaana Music: Bollywood Songs and Radio is a free music streaming app, developed and published by Gamma Gaana Ltd. It was introduced in April 2010 and is available to use on Android, iOS, and Web.

It can be easy to get bored though, so you may also need a quick change. Gaana gives all the options you could ever imagine. Want to discover more? Well, read on to find out!

What Is Gaana?

Gaana

With more than 200 million monthly users, Gaana is India’s largest commercial music streaming service. It was first launched by Times Internet back in 2010 and offers both Indian and international music content.

The entire Indian music catalog is available to users worldwide. Gaana.com features music from 21 Indian languages including Assamese, Odia and Tamil.

Gaana lets users create public playlists so other users can see and favourite them. In addition, its mobile app was launched to support almost all popular operating systems like Android, iOS, and Windows. So it really is available to anyone!

What Does Gaana Do?

Gaana

Gaana helps you discover new and old songs based on your mood. You can also listen to curated playlists such as 90s Romantic Hits, Bhangra, Devotional/Bhakti geet, and Radio.

Moreover, you can create short videos/stories with the Gaana HotShots Video feature and appreciate podcasts and shows like Ummeed, Ramayana, and Kadhai Ponniyin Selvan. You can also listen to music from Guru Randhawa, Rafi and Alka Yagnik to name a few. As well as English tracks from artists such as Ariana Grande, Jonas Brothers, Ed Sheeran, Eminem, and Justin Bieber.

Gaana music online has over 45 million MP3 songs with high-quality HD music streaming. They have thousands of playlists created by experts as well as various podcasts across different topics.

The music is updated daily for Hindi, English, Punjabi and Tamil (just to name a few!) and has all the lyrics and music videos to your favourite songs.

In a move to revive independent music, they launched a platform to promote independent music from artists under the brand ‘Gaana Originals’. ‘Gaana Originals’ features 11 original songs from top Bollywood and regional artists and release once a week. Gaana also offers a Live Radio which is the first Punjabi/Hindi radio broadcasting song without an ad break.

How To Download From Gaana

Gaana download

You can download songs from Gaana when you subscribe to the premium service Gaana Plus.

When you have Gaana Plus, you can download unlimited songs and listen to them offline as long as the subscription is active.

Your downloaded songs will remain only in your Gaana App and cannot be transferred to another device.

The App

Gaana app

The latest Gaana App has enhanced features. Including discoverability of music, better voice search, and availability of lyrics – to improve user experience.

Gaana has a lively interface which has a more inviting appearance than some of the other options. The service supports gapless playback (by preloading the following song). Whereas on other apps you’ll hear a brief pause between two songs. Although this setting can be turned off, it is better to leave it on.

With the app, discoverability has become a lot easier. Users can quickly select their choice of music with the help of the Personalised Music Feed at Search. The app tracks your listening history and prompts. Therefore saving you the hassle of browsing through the vast amount of songs.

The smart feed is powered by the ML models to expose users to a variety of content in one go. There are ‘Made for you Mixes’ and playlists to aid decision making. You can also use voice search to make accessibility faster and have more freedom without having to type on the app.

Enjoy an immersive experience with a lyrics screen where you can change the font/style as you wish. It is very user friendly and there is more imagery to keep you engaged.

So, how can you upload a song onto Gaana? In order to get your song uploaded onto Gaana, you first need to meet their standard and your song should be properly mixed and mastered

Don’t forget, with our incredible free Music Distribution service here at Мusic Gateway, we master your music for free to make sure that you sound the best you can before your release.

Apps Like Gaana

There are plenty of Apps like Gaana such as Saavn and Distrokid. Here is what we think of them in comparison:

Saavn

Saavn

Saavn Music and Radio is an Indian music and audio streaming app and digital distributor of English, Bollywood, and all the other regional music around the world.

The platform was introduced in 2007 and has acquired rights to more than 40 million music tracks in up to 15 different languages. It is available to use on Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and Web, and like Gaana, you can access it anywhere in the world.

Similar to Gaana, Saavn is a simple and easy to use application that allows you to find your favourite songs, listen to your favourite Indian and international artists, and create playlists. You can experience your most favourite songs all in one place.

Distrokid

Distrokid

Although Gaana and Distrokid are two completely different services, we felt like we needed to mention them! Gaana is a streaming platform and Distrokid is a music distribution service to get your music on other music streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music.

DistroKid is a service for musicians that puts your music into online stores and streaming services. They distribute your song credits and liner notes to stores, which was the first time this had been available to musicians

DistroKid’s service currently allows musicians an easy way to get their tunes to Spotify competitors. As well as, Apple, Amazon, Google Play, TIDAL, iHeartRadio, YouTube, Pandora, Deezer, and over 150 other music streaming services and stores.

DistroKid’s integration complements this feature by offering the ability to upload elsewhere. The downside of DistroKid as a distributor in comparison to other Apps such as Gaana is that it is not the most visually appealing. The interface is slightly outdated and looks very simple rather than the vibrancy of Gaana. It also doesn’t have the additional features and services.

If you’re interested in learning more about DistroKid, check out our DistroKid Review.

Our Final Thoughts

Streaming service

With the Gaana app, you can discover new and exciting music depending on your mood or liking through its discover section. Additionally, you can listen to curated playlists such as romantic songs, Ghazals, and more.

Gaana app also includes lots of key features such as listening to the radio, regular updates with new songs, multiple categories, thousands of playlists, and support multiple languages. It is an addictive music app for all ages.

So, what are you waiting for? Download Gaana now and experience it for yourself!
