Bio

Sanja Markovic (composer, jazz vocalist, instrumentalist, arranger, producer). Born in
Belgrade, Serbia, since 1992. she lived on the East Coast of the United States. Her Master's degree in music she retains at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.

From 2004, in addition to performing as a singer and an actor in Terazije Theater,
Belgrade Theater and Zvezdara theater, Sanja composed music for DAH theater
(Center for Theater Research), and engages cereatively in a band called
The Secondhanders, with whom she performed domestically and internationally
(SKC, KCSG, Cvijeta Zuzoric, "Donau Fest" Ulm, Germany). During this time Sanja performs as a jazz singer and a member of conceptual bands (EXIT Festival, Vossa Jazz Festival in Voss, Norway, and various concert halls and venues).

In New York, she co-operates with a videographer house for which he regularly composes
music. This leads to being hired by Leo Burnett (Chicago-NYC) and United Nations (NYC) to compose music, and be a part of their roster list. In Water Music studio, under supervision of music producer Rob
Grenoble (Hoboken, NJ), Sanja learns the craft of being a music producer. She teaches piano and music theory at NYC schools.

Upon returning to Belgrade, she actively performs as a jazz singer. She performs her own arrangement for the Big Band at Kolarac concert hall 2012 ("Mystery of Man", Big Band RTS, Kolarac 2012).
In 2014 she is involved in a project "The New Spark Jazz Orchestra" as an instrumentalist (tenor and soprano saxophone) and composer. In October 2014, she forms a band " Brazilian Jazz Collective "with who she regularly performs as a jazz singer and a guitarist (Arlemm festival, KCSG, Trg republike, numerous jazz clubs).

In 2017, she records and produces her debut album called "Ascension". With this original material she debuts at the Belgrade Jazz Festival on October 30, 2017. Another jazz festival performance is to follow February 2018. She receives excellent foreign and domestic critics for this album and the performances.
