With classic indie-rock vocals, a guitar tone reminiscent Franz Ferdinand and hooks that ooze elements similar to Two Door Cinema Club. ‘Weekends’ demonstrates creative coherence alongside writing & performance skill that stretch far beyond the two months the band have been together.
‘Weekends’ addresses the feelings of wanting something or someone you cannot have, in turn becoming obsessed – so much so that by the time they expose their flaws, you deny them entirely. Honey Motel wants to narrate the experience of painting this perfect, but inaccurate image of someone in your mind, something a lot of listeners will be able to relate to.
“It is written in a way that could mean anything to anyone. The track is a love song on the exterior, about obsession and jealousy, but music is subjective, and we hope the listener takes the track and gives it their own meaning.” – Matthew.
‘Weekends’ was produced within three days, entirely in Liverpool. First recorded with Daniel Woodward at Whitewood Studios, the track was then mixed and mastered by Loic Gaillard at the Motor Museum.
The uncut gem of the Liverpool music scene, Honey Motel bring a whirlwind of free-spirited flair, with their infectious melodies and euphoric choruses that are forever accompanied by lyrics filled with teenage angst and uncertainty – all delivered with their authentic Merseyside charm.
Matthew Walker, Sam Meredith, Jack Hughes and Paul Pablo Robinson; AKA Honey Motel (est. September 2020) has exploded into the indie sphere with their dynamic crossover sound and eccentric energy. The band have already received airplay from John Kennedy on Radio X, Dave Monks on BBC Introducing Merseyside, XS Manchester and Amazing Radio with Charlie Ashcroft.
Reminiscent of memorable late-night antics, Honey Motel’s hallmark sound fuses an innovative blend of influences from classic indie rock to 80s synth-pop & soul.
